Description
The session will be the opportunity for a North-South-East dialogue between ENSIE, The European Network of Social Integration Enterprises, and MedUp!, a project funded by the EU and implemented by Oxfam Italy, promoting social entrepreneurship in the MENA Region. The panel will include speakers from the interested geographical regions who will share examples of successful experiences in the promotion of laws on policies on social enterprises as well as new evolutions and developments in the field. This will be the chance to explore how conducive policy environments can sustain social economy as an innovative solution to ensure economic inclusiveness and employment, which is proving as an increasingly challenging theme on either side of the Mediterranean.

Description
The first part of the session is dedicated to the EU social partners in social services. Representatives from the Federation of European Social Employers and the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) will bring in the EU-level perspective, by introducing opportunities and challenges linked to new digital technologies and outlining collective bargaining and social dialogue as fundamental tools to make best use of such technologies. Speakers from Belgium and France will share their expertise and best practices on the uptake and impacts of digital technologies in social economy enterprises in their respective national context. The Belgian contribution will highlight the effects of digitalisation on employment, work organisation and on the nature and quality of services. The French employers’ organisation will present the main results of their study on digitalisation and working conditions in the French social economy, paving the way for future social partner negotiations.

Description
Inclusive Enterprise model (IE) is an employment model for people with disabilities that is present in more than 13 European countries. Despite the fact of these entities receive different names or regulations depending on the country, they have common characteristics that they will be defined and explained in this workshop. The session will bring together stakeholder’s representatives and experts in IE model to exchange good practices, increase the visibility of IE. policies and its posible adaptation to other entities, especially social start-ups and all kind of entities from the SE. Secondly, IEs have both enterprise goals and social goals, focusing on the employment of PwD.according UNCRPD All in all, the session will tackle the issue of pointing out the characteristics of this inclusive employment model for people with disabilities and also the implementation to the SE and to the whole society to generate social impact for the real inclusion of people with the disabilities.

Description
The canvas for Social Economy targets SME’s, social enterprises, social entrepreneurs, regional and local authorities, support agencies and investors, by highlighting the societal, economic and environmental dimension driving a specific activity. The canvas fosters an ecosystemic approach to improve the resilience and sustainability of any economic activity. The advanced prototype of the Canvas will be presented during the October Digital Road to Mannheim by the European Commission Joint Research Centre expert, Mr. Alessandro Rancati. The final results of a testing phase running with a broad range of stakeholders will be presented in May 2021 in Mannheim during the European Social Economy Summit.

Learn to network & improve collaboration with Working Out Loud In times of digitalisation, digital skills such as the use of digital tools and media, networking skills, collaboration and communication as well as self-driven learning skills in the virtual space are more important than ever. Working Out Loud, (WOL) stands for networked collaboration and communication in digital space (on the intranet or internet, e.g. via social media platforms). The effective use of such platforms and networking with diverse experts on a personal level in order to learn from and with each other and to exchange information can be learned very easily with the help of the WOL circle method. Learn more about the concept of Working Out Loud and how e.g. organizations, start-ups & entrepreneurs use the method to make employees & themselves fit(er) for the digital age. Experience in an interactive workshop with practical exercises, why so many people around the world work out loud.

Description
Digitalisation is very much affecting the quality of work and the health of workers. Even more workers are losing their rights because very often they are not any more protected by a standard employment contract. Digital platforms will replace work with compulsory social insurance coverage with new, insecure forms of employment. The future development will depend above all on whether platforms engage in unfair competition with regulated services by systematically circumventing applicable quality standards and rules governing the protection of workers and consumers, or even liabilities for tax and social security contributions. The key question is to what extent platforms are exploiting legal grey areas regarding the status of workers in order to cut costs and thereby gain a competitive advantage over existing companies. However, new and innovative business models which are currently emerging in form of social economy enterprises to run digital platforms. So they can produce important economic and social benefits. The crucial question is what those platform-based business models could look like – whether commercial or, for example, co-operative-based.

Based on studies carried out new forms of work (2015, 2017), Le Labo de l’ESS proposes a workshop based on 3 steps: A first step to be introduced by the moderator, Bastien SIBILLE, will describe and analyse the current situation, with a focus on success and failures of current corrective actions. Then a panel discussion between the stakeholders, on the following issues: – The workers ‘rights within digital platforms, balanced with the SSE employers’ point of view, with Ludovic VOET, confederal secretary of ETUC and Sébastien DARRIGRAND, managing director at UDES. – The advantages and drawbacks of self-employed workers cooperatives, with Sarah DE HEUSCH, project officer at SMart. – The advantages and drawbacks of a non-extractive vacation rental platform, with Emanuele DAL CARLO, president of Fairbnb. Finally an open debate with the audience and round-up session on innovative action proposals.
